192 cleaning leads at $31.22 each.
How we used small, city by city Google Search campaigns to help a GTA Cleaning Company win new residential clients across Toronto and York Region, with most cities running on just $4 a day.
Great service, but hard to be found.
Cleaning is one of the most crowded local services online. Big franchises and dozens of independent cleaners all bid on the same searches, and it is easy for a smaller company to spend a lot on ads and get very little back. The goal: bring in steady residential cleaning requests across the GTA without a big ad budget.
A crowded market
Franchises and independent cleaners all compete for the same people searching for a cleaner.
A modest budget
Every dollar needed to bring in real requests, not just clicks.
Many cities to cover
Customers in Vaughan, Markham and Thornhill all search differently. One broad campaign could not speak to each of them.
One city, one campaign.
Instead of one large campaign, we gave each city its own small Search campaign so budget could go exactly where the requests were coming from.
City by city campaigns
Separate residential campaigns for Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Thornhill and Newmarket and Aurora, each running on just $4 a day.
A Toronto expansion
A radius campaign around Leaside, with a larger $30 a day budget, pushed the business into Toronto. It became the biggest source of leads with 72 requests at $29.56 each.
Bidding for leads, not clicks
Every campaign used Target CPA bidding, so Google focused on people likely to fill out the quote form instead of people who just browse.
One clear goal
The account tracks one primary action: a submitted quote request. That keeps reporting honest and every number on this page is a real person asking for a cleaning quote.
Every city under $38 a lead.
Over eight months, $5,995.14 in ad spend brought in 192 quote requests at $31.22 each. The ads were seen 32,706 times and more than 1 in 10 people who clicked went on to request a quote.
| Campaign | Leads | Cost per lead | Spend | Clicks | Click to lead rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leaside radius (Toronto expansion) Most leads | 72 | $29.56 | $2,128.58 | 621 | 11.59% |
| Newmarket & Aurora | 27.5 | $29.59 | $813.84 | 235 | 11.70% |
| Thornhill Lowest cost | 22.5 | $29.35 | $660.45 | 192 | 11.72% |
| Vaughan | 25 | $32.62 | $815.52 | 258 | 9.69% |
| Richmond Hill | 23.5 | $33.11 | $778.20 | 235 | 10.00% |
| Markham | 21.5 | $37.14 | $798.56 | 285 | 7.54% |
| All campaigns | 192 | $31.22 | $5,995.14 | 1,826 | 10.51% |
Five of the six cities ran on just $4 a day each, and every one of them delivered leads for under $38. You do not need a big budget to compete locally when each campaign is focused on one area.
Google reports some leads in halves because it shares credit between campaigns when someone clicks more than one ad before reaching out.
What this means for your local service business.
$4 a day per city was enough to bring in steady quote requests in a crowded market.
Separate campaigns showed Thornhill at $29.35 a lead and Markham at $37.14, so budget could move to the best areas.
Target CPA bidding turned more than 10% of clicks into quote requests.
A dedicated Toronto campaign grew into the top lead source without hurting the cities that already worked.
